How Victory VCI® Works | Dry, Oil-Free Corrosion Protection

The science behind dry, oil-free, long-term corrosion protection.

Victory VCI® Bags use advanced vapor corrosion inhibitors to protect firearms, ammunition, optics, and metal gear for 3+ years without oils, desiccants, or cleanup. This page shows exactly how the technology activates, seals, and shields your equipment.

What Is VCI?

VCI stands for Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor, a safe, invisible vapor that forms a molecular shield around metal surfaces. Once sealed inside a Victory VCI® Bag, this vapor fills the interior space and bonds to exposed metal, preventing rust, oxidation, and tarnish.

Victory Plastic has been a proud AMPP member since 2014.

The Science Behind Vapor Corrosion Protection

Inside every Victory VCI® Bag, corrosion inhibitors transition into a vapor state. These molecules migrate throughout the sealed environment and attach to metal surfaces, forming a dry, invisible, non-oily barrier that blocks:

  • Moisture
  • Oxygen
  • Chlorides
  • Contaminants
  • Corrosive ions

This molecular layer remains active for 3+ years once sealed.

Why Victory VCI® Works Better Than Oils or Desiccants

Method Drawbacks Victory VCI® Advantage
Oils Trap moisture, require cleanup, block vapor Dry protection, no cleanup
Desiccants Only remove moisture, need replacement Stops moisture and oxygen
Victory VCI® No maintenance, no secondary products

How to Seal Your Victory VCI® Bag

  • Fold & Tuck: Fast, simple, effective for most storage.
  • Twist Tie / Zip Tie (not included): Adds mechanical security for transport or long-term storage.
  • Heat Seal (Recommended): Creates a waterproof, airtight barrier ideal for long-term or high-humidity environments.

What Victory VCI® Protects

Compatible Materials

carbon steel • stainless steel • cast iron • aluminum • brass • copper • nickel • tin • lead • bronze • galvanized steel • manganese alloys • precious metals • electronics • optics

Safe for scopes, red dots, night vision, and coated surfaces.

Real-World Performance

Victory VCI® Bags are engineered for real-world conditions, not lab-perfect environments. Even if a small amount of moisture is present inside the bag, VCI vapor still activates and protects metal surfaces.

Why Victory VCI® Bags Don't Use Zippers or Velcro

Zippers and Velcro degrade over time, allowing vapor to escape and trapping debris. Victory VCI® Bags use simple, reliable closures that maintain a sealed environment for years.

Meets Military-Grade Standards

Victory VCI® Bags are engineered to meet MIL-DTL-22020E (Tactical Grade) standards, the same specification used by defense and industrial applications requiring verified corrosion protection. Precision-engineered rust prevention backed by 75 years of industrial corrosion science.
